The Rose Family

The Rose Family is a long-standing country music group, having performed throughout Minnesota for over 30 years. They have appeared on Twin Cities TV and Radio.

Larry and David Rose were originally part of a family group called the Rhythm Ramblers. Other members of that group were David's two brothers, Don and Emmet Rose, Don being Larry's father.

In 1967, due to illness, Don left the group and Bev Rose became his replacement.

During a radio broadcast, the master of ceremonies couldn't recall the name of the band and, in desperation, quickly asked the radio audience to listen to the music of "The Rose Family." The name stuck.

The foursome, Emmet, Larry, Dave and Bev, played clubs throughout the Twin Cities area until 1969, when Emmet retired from the group. Upon Emmet's retirement, Randy Duffy became the group's drummer and David, who formerly played drums, switched to the bass.

Curt Olsen joined the group in 1972, adding the pedal steel guitar. He is considered one of the best steel players in the Midwest.

The Rose Family sound remained the same until May 1998, when Gary Louden, Bev's brother, joined the group, adding his strong vocals and rhythm guitar. Gary has been in the music business for 10 years, performing in various clubs with other country groups. With addition of Gary, The Rose Family sound has come full circle.

They have performed with numerous headline country music entertainers, including Kitty Wells, Ernest Tubb, Claude King, Jean Shepherd, Stonewall Jackson and Charlie Walker, to name a few.

The Rose Family has enjoyed great success as a traditional country group. One needs only to listen to them at work to hear the loyalty they hold for their music.
